Joe Whitehead, Otterbein University

Our 9th edition of the St. Francis DeSales Football Alum of The Week, from Otterbein University, it's Joe Whitehead.  Whitehead, a starting junior defensive lineman recorded a quarterback sack last Saturday in a 42-0 loss to Mount Union, up in Alliance.  For the season, the 6-foot, 305 pounder, has 23 tackles, 2.5 for a loss including the one sack in 8 games played for the Cardinals.  In his career at Otterbein, the former Stallion has started 24 games, including all ten as a sophomore last season, when he was named Honorable Mention All-OAC.   He has played in 27 games overall and has collected 63 tackles.  While a senior at DeSales, Whitehead was named 1st-Team All-CCL, District and Ohio.  As a defensive tackle, he was recognized as the 2007 Central District Division-II Defensive Player of the Year.  Joe was also a state qualifier as a wrestler in 2008.  Next up for the Otterbein Cardinals, now 2-6 overall, they'll play host to Marietta.  From the Ohio Athletic Conference, Otterbein University; rom St. Francis DeSales High School, Joe Whitehead, together they make up this week's installment of the St. Francis DeSales Football Alum of The Week.
