11/09/2000  -  DeSales 28, Brookhaven 25 (Regional Semifinal)

DeSales quarterback Tony Borghese threw for a touchdown and ran for 2 other scores as the Stallions imporved to 9-3 and advanced to the regional final.  Borghese completed 3-of-6 passes for 111 yards and ran for 44 yards on 15 carries.

9/02/1994  -  DeSales 34, Brookhaven 13

DeSales scored the game’s first 34 points and cruised to the victory over the Bearcats.  Brady Mangini ran for 103 yards on 8 carries with 2 touchdowns, including a 73-yard scoring run.  The Stallions’ special teams contributed with a blocked punt, which was recovered by Mark Gentry and returned for a touchdown.  Quarterback Matt D’Orazio had a 4-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter to make it 34-0.

9/04/1992  -  DeSales 17, Brookhaven 14

DeSales rallied for the 17-14 win after Brian Emmerling’s 10-yard touchdown run with 7 seconds remaining.  The Stallions trailed Brookhaven 14-3 at the half, thanks to two Charles Henley touchdown rushes.  Adam Conley would make it 14-10 on a 2-yard run in the 3rd quarter.  On the game-winning drive, DeSales faced a 3rd-and-goal on the Bearcats’ 14 yard line and received a fresh set of downs after Brookhaven was called for pass interference.  Three plays later, Emmerling scored the game-winner and it was the 6th victory over the Bearcats since 1981.  Brookhaven would not lose again until the Division-II state semifinal. 

8/30/1991  -  DeSales 13, Brookhaven 10

John Mahle broke a 10-10 tie in the 4th quarter with a 25-yard field goal, which turned out to be the difference in the Stallions’ victory.  It was the 2nd field goal of the game for Mahle.  Luke Fickell scored the Purple and White’s only touchdown in the 2nd quarter on a 25-yard reception from Brian Emmerling.  Fickell’s score was set-up by Jim Hassey’s blocked punt, recovered at the Brookhaven 27 yard line.  Not only did the Stallions block a punt, they recovered fumbles on a punt and a kickoff, but did give up a 62-yard Terry Glenn score on a fake punt.

8/24/1990  -  DeSales 14, Brookhaven 8 O.T.

After the Bearcats missed a 24-yard field goal in overtime, Luke Fickell caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jim Delfino to give the Stallions a 14-8 win.  Midway through the 4th quarter, with the game scoreless, DeSales took over at the Brookhaven 33 yard line after a Bearcats’ punt.  Steve Smith, who finished with 121 yards on 15 carries, ran the ball down to Bearcats 17 yard line.  Two plays later, Smith scored on a 16-yard run.  Nick Magistrale caught a Mike Merrick pass on the 2-point conversion to give the Stallions an 8-0 lead.  Later, with 1:03 remaining and on their own 38 yard line, Brookhaven’s quarterback Marlon Kerner ran and passed the ball to the Stallion’s 35.  With 8 seconds left in regulation, Kerner threw over the middle to tight end Jason Gwynn, the ball was tipped by Bill Luckso, then caught by Gwynn for the 35-yard touchdown.  Kerner forced overtime after running for the 2-point conversion. 

8/25/1989  -  DeSales 9, Brookhaven 6

In the first meeting since 1982, the Stallions’ defense held twice deep inside their own territory in a 9-6 win over Brookhaven.  With 33 seconds left, Bryan Bates intercepted a Marlon Kerner pass at the DeSales 12 yard line.  It was the second defensive stand of the game by the Stallions.  In the 2nd quarter, the Bearcats had it 1st-and-goal on the DeSales 1 yard line, but failed to score.  Chalaco Clark’s interception, one of 5 for Brookhaven, led to a game-winning Todd Vrancken’s 15-yard  touchdown.

9/17/1982  -  DeSales 34, Brookhaven 14

DeSales quarterback Bill Schwartz threw for 166 yards on 7-of-10 passing with 2 touchdown passes, both to Mike Maloney, and the Stallions won their first game in 1982 (1-2).  Brookhaven took an early 7-0 lead before Maloney’s 27 and 39-yard scores.  Paul Dobner added 2 touchdown runs and finished 77 yards rushing.

DeSales began the game by recording a safety thanks to Tom Weilbacher and Nick Preston’s sack in the end-zone.  Weilbacher also added 2 receiving touchdowns from quarterback Matt Bajorek.  Nick Preston, Brian Meier, David Cook, Aaron O’Reilly and Trent Albright each scored for the Purple and White.  Brent Peterson kicked two 1st quarter field goals (43, 49). 

9/25/1998  -  DeSales 26, Brookhaven 8

Stallions’ quarterback Aaron Powell ran 74 yards on the first play from scrimmage and later added an 80-yard touchdown rush in the 26-8 win.  David Cook also added an 8-yard score on the ground n in the 2nd quarter, which was set up by 20-yard run by Tony Moore.  It was 16-0 at the half after Maurice Hall was tackled in the end-zone for a safety.  The Stallions opened the 2nd half by recovering an onside kick, which led to a 36-yard field goal by Andy McCurdy.  Powell’s 80-yard run completed the scoring for DeSales in the 4th quarter. 

9/19/1981  -  DeSales 51, Brookhaven 0

DeSales totaled 501 yards on offense, led by Greg Williams’ 145 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns to move to 3-0.  Greg Pasden also eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark, with 101 yards and a score.  Five different players scored for the Stallions.  Brookhaven fumbled 6 times, losing 4 and finished with 101 yards of offense and was held to 2 first downs, one came via a DeSales penalty.  DeSales finished with 410 yards of offense.

DeSales began the 1973 season by blanking Brookhaven 37-0.  It was the 3rd game in a row the the Bearcats were shut out by the Stallions.  Tom Barr ran for 127 yards and a touchdown.  Brian Hairston had a 12-yard touchdown and a 40-yard reception for another score.  John Slupski returned an interception 27 yards for a touchdown for the Purple and White.

9/28/1972  -  DeSales 19, Brookhaven 0

The Stallions ran for 250 yards and held Brookhaven to 5 first downs and 122 yards of offense in their 2nd straight shutout over the Bearcats.  John Dolder started the scoring for DeSales with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jim Winnas.  Mike Starrett ran for 2 touchdowns (4, 1) for the Stallions offense, who finished with 16 first downs.  

9/16/1966  -  DeSales 28, Brookhaven 6

Leading 12-6 at halftime, the Stallions extended the lead in the 2nd half after a 42-yard touchdown run by Mike Beneditti and a 37-yard interception return for a score by Benny Winfield. 

10/01/1971  -  DeSales 40, Brookhaven 0

Six different players scored for DeSales in their 40-0 win over the Bearcats.  The Stallions led 28-9 at halftime, largely thanks to Brookhaven fumbles.

9/17/1965  -  DeSales 12, Brookhaven 6

The Stallions got 2 first half touchdowns and held onto a 12-6 victory over Brookhaven.  Steve Greene ran 74 yards for the score on a 3rd-and-22 with 4:33 left in the 1st quarter.  DeSales’ second touchdown came on a 1-yard run by fullback Mike Metzger, which was set-up by a Kevin O’Brien fumble recovery at the Brookhaven 13 yard line.  The Bearcats fumbled five times in the game.  DeSales out-gained Brookhaven 222-171 in total yards, despite finishing 0-for-9 passing. 

9/19/1964  -  DeSales 24, Brookhaven 0

In the first-ever meeting between the two schools, DeSales left no doubt with 16 points in the 4th quarter to win it 24-0.  Mike Metzger ran for 2 touchdowns (11, 1) and quarterback Kenny Schneider passed for 2 two-point conversions for the Stallions.

9/02/2011  -  DeSales 48, Brookhaven 12

DeSales running back Warren Ball rushed for a career-high 6 touchdowns and Tim Doone had an interception and a fumble recovery to help lead the Stallions to their first win of the season.  The Purple and White scored 14 points in each of the first 3 quarters to score the 4th most points under Head Coach Ryan Wiggins.  DeSales was actually out-gained in the ballgame, but took advantage of poor special teams by Brookhaven, including a blocked punt by Jalen Noble, which gave the Stallions great field position.  Senior running back Austin Garrett scored a touchdown and recovered a fumble.
