The Stallions clinched their 16th consecutive playoff appearance by overcoming a 13-0 deficit in the 2nd half for the victory. DeSales junior quarterback Nick Gentile’s 25 yard touchdown tied it at 13 in the 4th quarter and Kyle Nugent’s extra point gave the Stallions the lead for good. Later in the quarter, Mitch Yinger blocked a Justin Paulinelli punt, Sam Borghese recovered the loose ball and it took it 8 yards in for the score.
10/17/2008 - DeSales 31, LaSalle 21
DeSales jumped out to a 31-7 thanks to Nick Gentile and Josh Kusan’s combined 189 yards rushing. The Lancers out-gained the Stallions 389-326, but turned the ball over four times in the loss. Adam Griffin had a 48-yard receiving touchdown for DeSales. After five meetings between the two schools, the combined points scored is 109 to 102 in favor of the Stallions.

The Stallions spoiled senior night in Cincinnati and ran for 412 yards to remain a perfect 9-0 in the regular season. Ryan Clark had 116 yards and a touchdown, Jeff Walsh had 112 yards and a score and Thomas Gentile rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.

DeSales quarterback Eric Holleman threw 2 touchdown passes and ran for another score in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Two of Holleman’s scoring tosses went to Paul Hollern (29, 69) and both were in the first half as the Stallions built a 14-0 halftime lead. Frank Borghese ran for 114 yards on just 9 carries for the Purple and White.

The Stallions clinched their 18th consecutive playoff appearance in convincing fashion in Cincinnati with a 45 point victory. DeSales’ defense forced 6 turnovers, had a goal line stand in the 2nd half and got a fumble recovery return by linebacker Adam Dobner for a touchdown. Warren Ball scored 4 times to lead the Stallions on offense. Alex Perrine threw for 149 yards, including 4 passes to Charles Chandler for 121 yards. Perrine also had a 59-yard rushing touchdown as did Griff Saunders, who scored from 38 yards out.
